We are delighted to announce that we will be title sponsor of Extreme Energy’s ultra events. The Sealskinz Ultra Trail Series is made up of several multi-day endurance races taking place across the UK and offers the perfect platform for us to showcase our products and brand to dedicated runners and walkers.
Over the last 7 years, Extreme Energy has built a reputation for delivering some of the best managed and most challenging Ultra Events in the UK, with two ranking in Trail Running’s Top 20 Races earlier this year. The first event which took place last week is The Pilgrim Challenge - a 66 mile two day event following the North Downs Way. All of the two day events follow well established trails including The Cotswold Way, Buckinghamshire’s Ridgeway and the Pony Express in the New Forest. The Isle of Wight event, which runs in parallel to the famous Round the Island yacht race, follows the coastal path for 70 undulating miles.
“These routes are fantastic, but they get wet and muddy, which is where we come in,” comments David Richards, Head of Marketing at Sealskinz. “A lot of competitors will be familiar with our products, but this is a chance to put them into practice. We’re literally asking them to ‘dip their toes in the water’ and we know they’ll come out dry.”
For those who’ve never been brave enough to take the plunge, The Sealskinz Ultra Series also includes a number of one day 50 km challenges, which are open to walkers and runners, young and old as founder Neil Thubron explains, “We want to attract more people into the world of ultra running so we have created what we call our “intro” events. We have made taking part as easy as possible by choosing a scenic, easily accessible and well marked route and make sure that competitors are well supported en route.”
The announcement coincides with the launch of our first ever dedicated running collection. The range offers carefully crafted, run-specific socks, as well as hats and gloves designed with the runner in mind. Under the sponsorship agreement, as well as having naming rights to the events, these products will make up part of the winners’ prize at each event through 2016.
