Our Impact: Staying True to Our Roots

We've partnered with Greenspark to plant and protect the landscapes that have shaped our brand for the last 20 years

For over two decades, our mission has been simple: empower adventurers to stay outdoors longer, regardless of the weather. But high performance isn’t just about weather protection. For us, it’s also about protecting the world we love to explore, live and work in. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Greenspark to ensure that every order placed doesn’t just deliver excellent gear, it plants trees, helping regenerate vital ecosystems and support communities at the same time: a direct way for us to give back to the places that continue to influence our creative vision.

Why we choose to do more...

The environment isn’t just where our products thrive, the outdoors is the reason we exist. Every Sealskinz product, from warm fleeces, to waterproof jackets and gloves, socks, and hats alike have all been born from a respect for the landscapes that shape us. The windswept coasts, the rain-soaked hills, the untamed rivers, we design for the people who thrive in these conditions, but we’re equally aware that these wild places need protecting. The same storms, tides, and trails that inspire us are under growing pressure from climate change and habitat loss.

As a brand built on a love of the outdoors, we feel a responsibility to give back, to not only shield people from the elements, but to help restore the balance of the natural world we depend on.

Rooted in Purpose

When you place an order with Sealskinz, you’re doing more than buying high-performance weather-proof clothing. You’re planting trees in partnership with Greenspark. These aren’t just symbolic gestures, they’re meaningful investments in ecosystem restoration, community wellbeing and carbon capture. Through our partnership, each purchase uplift impoverished communities whilst restoring rainforest and trees across the world.

The process is simple, direct and immediate: you order → we plant → nature benefits.

Our Projects

We are proud to partner with Greenspark, a UK based company spearheading meaningful climate and social action by automatically linking everyday activities to verified environmental projects such as tree planting, carbon offsetting, and plastic recovery.

The initiative we are currently proud to support is based in Kenya’s Mteza Creek region. The team are working to restore degraded mangrove ecosystems while delivering meaningful economic opportunities for under-served coastal communities; by re-engaging local people in nursery work and planting up to approximately 5,000 mangrove propagules per hectare.

The project helps stabilise shorelines, enhance fisheries, sequester roughly 0.31 tonnes of CO₂ per tree planted and deliver paid work-days for local residents, thereby anchoring ecological recovery, social uplift, and climate mitigation in a single holistic effort.

So, every time you purchase a fleece for a loved one or a waterproof jacket for your wet and windy commute, not only are you protecting youself from the elements but also protecting an entire ecosystem and the communities connected to it!

The Wild doesn't Wait

The world we love to explore, from storm-lashed cliffs to sea-sprayed trails, is the very world under threat. It deserves better. So do the people whose lives depend on healthy ecosystems. With your support, Sealskinz is stepping up: high-performance gear with low-impact guilt, meaningful restoration, community uplift and measurable outcomes, so the next generation can stay outdoors for longer.

FAQs

What else does Sealskinz do for sustainability?

Sustainability is at the heart of our mission statement at Sealskinz. Sealskinz champions sustainability to protect the wild spaces that have shaped our brand, ensuring our products safeguard nature so future generations can enjoy the same landscapes we do.
Our newest clothing collection, Worn by Weather has been crafted using recycled and responsibly sourced materials, an extension of our long-standing commitment to durability, repairability, and mindful production. By choosing recycled fibres, we reduce our reliance on virgin materials and minimise waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or pollute our natural spaces.
Alongside using recycled fabrics and organic cotton in our products, our packaging is made from recycled materials that are fully recyclable and biodegradable. Any item containing merino wool follows our strict anti-mulesing policy. Together, these commitments ensure that future generations can enjoy the same wild spaces we do.

Does planting trees help climate change?

Trees absorb carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, so yes trees do play a big role in combatting climate change!
Also, 75% of land animals and plants rely on trees for their habitats, meaning one tree could be a home to hundreds of different species, creating a diverse ecosystem.

How does Sealskinz’s tree-planting initiative work?

It's simple! For every clothing order placed, Sealskinz will plant two trees in Kenya, at no extra cost to you. These mangrove trees protect coastlines, create paid jobs for local residents, enhance biodiversity, and store significant amounts of carbon: tackling climate change from the ground up.

How does Sealskinz measure its environmental impact?

We chose to work with Greenspark because they use verified data and technology, including soil sensors, growth monitoring, and community reporting. This way we can measure and track the impact of every project we donate to. This ensures that every tree planted through Sealskinz delivers real-world results you can trust.

Does the tree planting really make a difference?

Yes! Every two trees planted through our program sequester around 0.62 tonnes of CO₂ over their lifetime. Beyond that, the project provides meaningful, paid employment for local communities, strengthens coastal resilience, and restores biodiversity in critical habitats.
