Waterproof fabrics and garments are generally tested to withstand a certain level of ‘hydrostatic head’.
Our Sealskinz membranes are tested to withstand a column of water (hydrostatic head) >10,000mm. (BS3424: Part 26; Method 29A: 1990)
Yes. The membrane is windproof as well as being waterproof. Did you know they also provide a barrier to dust and fine sand in dry regions? That is why our socks are regularly used by the military in hot, dry deployments.
We specify a minimum W.V.P (Water Vapour Permeability index) of 65% for all our patented socks and gloves (BS7)
