Why we name our Products after Norfolk Towns and Villages
Place, identity and belonging: Sealskinz's connection to Norfolk
Sealskinz was born in Norfolk, a county renowned for its rugged coastline, sweeping marshes, and endless skies. It's a landscape that shapes how people connect with the outdoors: from the North Sea winds battering Blakeney Point, to the quiet, winding rivers around Wymondham. This environment has inspired our waterproof, breathable and durable gear for decades. Naming our products after Norfolk places is our way of keeping that connection alive.

Carrying Norfolk With You
When you pull on a pair of Raynham Socks or Hoveton Gloves, you’re wearing more than performance kit: you’re wearing a little piece of Norfolk. We know our customers take Sealskinz gear to the furthest corners of the world, across mountain ranges, coastlines and deep into rainforests. These names aren’t just labels; they’re reminders of the landscapes, weather, and stories that inspired their creation. By naming our products after Norfolk locations, we’re sending a piece of home on every journey with you. Every name reflects a location that embodies endurance, resilience, and character: just like our products.
A Sense of Place...
Raynham
The Raynham Waterproof Sock, trusted by the military, thrives in all environments. Handcrafted in the Sealskinz factory in Norfolk, the sock is engineered for harsh, unpredictable environments, much like the resilient villages of Raynham.
Raynham villages, known for their background in pioneering British farming and a role in 20th-Century military heritage, embody centuries of adaptation and resilience. Just as the socks are built to protect and perform across all conditions, Raynham itself stands as a testament to strength, ingenuity, and the ability to thrive in the face of change.

Salle
The Salle Cap is a light, foldable cap, made from a durable fabric. Waterproof, packable, and UV protected, the Salle makes an ideal companion for long-distance, mixed-terrain expeditions.
Just as the Salle Cap is built to shield you in shifting conditions: with flexibility, durability, and reliability, Salle, Norfolk stands as a remarkable, steadfast beacon of medieval ambition in a quiet rural atmosphere, and deep-rooted history.
Bodham
The Bodham Gloves are our original, waterproof, breathable and durable cycling gloves that were made for wet weather, ensuring your hands remain dry and aerated during every ride.
Bodham is a village rich in medieval history, with theories about historical spirits being warded off and stories etched in the Domesday Book. The village stands as a blend of history, communal warmth, and rural identity; echoing the Bodham Gloves: quietly strong, reliable, and grounded.

Our product names also celebrate the communities that have been part of our journey. The villages and towns of Norfolk are full of history, craftsmanship and a strong sense of identity, values we share at Sealskinz. It’s our way of honouring the place that has given us so much and shaped who we are as a brand.
